Holistic Psychiatry & Whole-
Person Care

Treating the whole person - mind, body, and lifestyle.

Neurvana takes a holistic approach to psychiatry. Allison Bonham, PMHNP-BC, combines evidence-based medication management with attention to nutrition, movement, sleep, stress management, and other lifestyle factors that powerfully influence mental health, available via secure telehealth for adults throughout Utah.

Most people come to psychiatry expecting to leave with a prescription. And sometimes medication is exactly what is needed. But in my experience, the patients who make the most lasting progress are the ones whose care goes beyond the prescription pad.

Holistic psychiatry does not mean avoiding medication. It means asking why. Why is your anxiety so difficult to control despite treatment? Why does your depression keep returning? Why can't you sleep even when you're exhausted? The answers are often found not just in brain chemistry, but in the full picture of how someone is living, what they're eating, how they're sleeping, how much stress their nervous system is carrying, and whether their hormones and inflammation markers are working with them or against them.

At Neurvana, every patient gets that full picture. Before we settle on a treatment plan, we talk about your lifestyle, your stress, your sleep, and your overall physical health. When those pieces are addressed alongside medication, the results are meaningfully different.

How We Help

  • Integrative treatment plans

  • Focus on root causes and overall wellness

  • Personalized recommendations beyond medication

  • Support for sustainable, long-term mental wellness

Why It Matters

Research increasingly shows that inflammation, gut health, sleep quality, and nutritional status all directly affect mood, focus, and emotional regulation. Treating mental health without addressing these factors is like treating a headache without asking why it keeps coming back. Holistic psychiatry is not an alternative to evidence-based care. It is evidence-based care taken to its fullest expression.

What to Expect

We look at the full picture of your health and work together on a comprehensive plan. You will leave your first visit with a clear understanding of what we think is contributing to your symptoms and a plan that addresses more than just the diagnosis.

Who This Is For

Holistic psychiatry at Neurvana is a good fit if you feel like something is being missed in your current care, if you want to understand the root causes of your symptoms rather than just manage them, or if you are looking for a provider who will treat you as a whole person rather than a diagnosis. All visits are available via secure telehealth throughout Utah.
